Frequently asked questions

My child can’t read yet. Can they still play?

Yes — that’s exactly who the game is for. Every clue is a picture rather than a sentence, and there are no written instructions to get past. A child taps a picture, sees the empty squares, and drops letters in. Most children work it out without being told.

How do I unlock the full game?

Open the app, tap the gear in the top corner, pass the grown-up check, and choose either the monthly subscription or the one-time lifetime purchase. Both unlock exactly the same thing: every crossword, every language, every milestone. Prices appear in the app in your own currency.

What’s the difference between the subscription and the lifetime purchase?

Only how you pay. The monthly subscription renews until you cancel it, and the game locks back to the free crosswords if it lapses. The lifetime purchase is paid once and never expires. Neither one gives you anything the other doesn’t.

I bought the game and it’s locked on my other device.

Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, then open the grown-up settings and tap Restore purchase. If it still doesn’t unlock, email us — include the Apple Account email you bought with and we’ll sort it out.

How do I cancel the subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your device open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, pick Picture Crosswords For Kids, and tap Cancel. Everything your child has finished stays finished.

Can I ask for a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase. We aren’t able to issue refunds ourselves, but tell us what went wrong anyway — if something is broken we’d like to fix it.

A word is wrong, odd, or rude in my language.

Please tell us. The vocabulary spans 26 languages and we would much rather hear about a bad word from you than leave it in front of a child. Send the language, the crossword number, and the word, and we’ll correct it in the next update.

How do I change the language?

Gear icon, pass the grown-up check, then pick from the language list. Both the puzzle words and the menus change. Progress is kept separately per language, so switching doesn’t lose anything.

Can I start my younger child from crossword 1?

Yes. In the grown-up settings, tap Reset progress and confirm. This erases every finished crossword and starts the whole journey again. It doesn’t affect a purchase — the full game stays unlocked.

Is there a daily crossword?

There is, and it’s free for everyone forever, whether or not you’ve bought the game. It’s a different crossword each day and it’s gone when the day ends.

Does the app need the internet?

No. Everything is on the device. The only time the internet is used at all is when the App Store is asked about a purchase or a restore.

Are there ads? Do you collect anything about my child?

No ads, and nothing collected — no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, no third-party code of any kind. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

The sound doesn’t work.

Check the ring/silent switch on the side of the device — the game follows it, like most children’s apps. Sound and vibration also have their own switches in the grown-up settings.

My child got into the settings on their own.

The grown-up check asks for a year of birth, which is meant to stop a small child rather than a determined ten-year-old. If yours is getting past it, iOS Screen Time can lock purchases separately: Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → iTunes & App Store Purchases.
